Designing projects of every size for museums and galleries, as well as collectors, publishers, art fairs, and artists
McCall Associates specializes in graphic design for the art world. Our expertise in editorial design—and its varied applications across books, websites, advertising, and promotions—keeps every project unique and customized to its goals.
For books, our process starts with the aims of the publisher: museum books differ in key aspects from gallery sales catalogues, from commercial monographs, and from the unique positioning of catalogues raisonnés. We tailor our designs around the project's goals, budget, and of course the art being presented. For many of our clients we provide start-to-finish services, from design to production specifications to full management of printing and binding.
In the digital realm, we apply the same editorial focus to projects as diverse as artist websites, gallery event invitations and promotions, email newsletters, and social media posts for art fairs.
We also design and produce other art world communications—from large-scale projects like graphic identities and advertising campaigns, down to smaller items like announcement cards and posters. These round out our portfolio to an all-encompassing selection of work that engages varied and visually sophisticated audiences.
Since the founding of our company by Anthony McCall the company has embodied the most creative and effective design principles. Under the leadership of David Zaza and Mark Nelson, partners and owners since the early 2000s, we have refined that tradition into a forward-looking 21st-century studio committed to helping our clients achieve their goals.
We welcome inquiries from publishers, galleries, curators, artists, writers—anyone with an arts-related project that needs the attention and expertise that McCall Associates provides.
